I hold to a form of strict Brentanian dualism whereby intentionality is the mark of the mental. I hold to the strongest form which holds that to be a mind is to be directed to something other… this means that all mental states must be in some way reduced to directedness.

Where does that leave qualia in phenomenal consciousness? I believe qualia is the stuff that the physical universe is made of. Quantum mechanics has convinced me that if you like the law of non-contradiction you might be more comfortable interpreting modern physics instrumentally.

Thus, I am relatively comfortable in stating a belief that the universe is not made up of particles at all… hence, qualia. I had a problem with the idea that space had some kind of subordinate ontological status, anyway.
